Favorite Book Friday

Dog Company: A True Story of American Soldiers Abandoned by Their High Command by Lynn Vincent and Captain Roger Hill. God bless those who fight for what's right and stand in harms way, despite the odds against them. I read a lot of military books because they understand the battle against evil, both the expected and the unexpected, on a level those who haven't been at war or abused simply do not comprehend.

Interesting bit I learned while doing research: Dandelions are the only flowers known to represent the sun, the moon, and the starts. The first bloom of yellow is the sun. The fluffy orb is the moon, and the individual dispersing seeds are the stars. They open in the morning and close at night. The leaves add a peppery taste to salads. The roots, leaves, and flowers are known for a variety of medicinal uses. The flowers are also bee and butterfly starter foods.

Coax, as in manage or guide, comes into use about 1841. Before that, it means to lure or treat endearingly or make a fool of or impose upon.

Scripture Study

Genesis 3:22-24

And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever: Therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken. So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

Betrayed: The Shocking True Story of Extortion 17 as told by a Navy SEAL's Father by Billy Vaughn, with Monica Morrill and Cari Blake. This book has been on my Wish List since it first came out, in 2013. I knew it would be a difficult read. I've followed the Vaughn's from shortly after the shoot down of Extortion 17. God bless the Vaughns, and God bless our troops.

Friends Day

Sunday is Friends Day. Celebrate by reading:

Just Friends

The sixth novella in the series...

Welcome back to Holiday, USA, small town America, where nothing happens, except holidays... and a little romance, if the hero and heroine trust God.

After Mindy Harper's life crashes, she cuts off her friends. What other choice does she have? She doesn't fit in anymore. Holidays commemorating friendship fail to convince her she should celebrate them. A handsome ranch hand won't change her mind.

Cowboy left most of his past behind, with no regrets. The moment he sees Mindy he knows where his future lies. Friendship is the best place to start, but what is he supposed to do when she declares they're acquaintances?

God opens closed doors to those who knock, if it's His will...
