John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Monday Quote

Our perfect God claims us as His children, swans, while an imperfect world calls us ugly ducklings. Why do we believe an imperfect world instead of our perfect God?

Favorite Book Friday

The Fiction Kitchen Trio Cookbook by Sarah M. Eden, Sian Ann Bessey, and Traci Hunter Abramson. Fans wanted recipes for some of the foods they described in their books, and these romance authors obliged. They started a FB page where they had bake offs and fans voted on their favorites. The recipe book finally became a thing, and each recipe is accompanied by a short excerpt from the book in which it's mentioned. I enjoy books by each of the authors. The first two I've read their short stories in the Timeless Collections. Traci is my favorite with her suspense romances. I want to try a few of the recipes, like homemade cream of mushroom soup, tuna casserole though I want to use chicken instead of tuna, and a cherry cobbler, to start. Fun.

Sunday Scripture

Philippians 4:6-7

6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Favorite Book Friday

Crazy for the Sweet Confections Baker (Crystal Creek series Book 1) by Danyelle Ferguson suspense romance. Twists and turns. A bumpy start for the characters that allowed for good growth in the story. Looking forward to reading the next book.

Monday Quote

When God created woman he was working late on the 6th day.......
An angel came by and asked." Why spend so much time on her?"
The lord answered. "Have you seen all the specifications I have to meet to shape her?"
Seen on SM:

She must function on all kinds of situations,
She must be able to embrace several kids at the same time,
Have a hug that can heal anything from a bruised knee to a broken heart,
She must do all this with only two hands,"She cures herself when sick and can work 18 hours a day"
THE ANGEL was impressed "Just two hands.....impossible!
And this is the standard model?"
The Angel came closer and touched the woman
"But you have made her so soft, Lord".
"She is soft", said the Lord,
"But I have made her strong. You can't imagine what she can endure and overcome."
"Can she think?" The Angel asked...
The Lord answered. "Not only can she think, she can reason and negotiate."
The Angel touched her cheeks....
"Lord, it seems this creation is leaking! You have put too many burdens on her"
"She is not leaking...it is a tear" The Lord corrected the Angel…
"What's it for?" Asked the Angel..... .
The Lord said. "Tears are her way of expressing her grief, her doubts, her love, her loneliness, her suffering and her pride."...
This made a big impression on the Angel,
"Lord, you are a genius. You thought of everything.
A woman is indeed marvelous"
Lord said."Indeed she is.
She has strength that amazes a man.
She can handle trouble and carry heavy burdens.
She holds happiness, love and opinions.
She smiles when she feels like screaming.
She sings when she feels like crying, cries when happy and laughs when afraid.
She fights for what she believes in.
Her love is unconditional.
Her heart is broken when a next-of-kin or a friend dies but she finds strength to get on with life"
The Angel asked: "So she is a perfect being?"
The lord replied: "No. She has just one drawback
She often forgets what she is worth."

Favorite Book Friday

Worlds Collide (Dream's Edge series Book 3) by Traci Hunter Abramson suspense romance. The story requires a little suspension of belief because the 84 Olympics took place in Sarajevo not Leningrad. However, Leningrad works for the story. It was a struggle for me because my favorite Olympic performance of all time was Torvill and Dean's ice dancing to Bolero. THA didn't cover the ice dancing at all but the pairs skating, which I don't remember. (Scott Hamilton won the men's ice skating. He's another favorite.) If you don't know the history or are easily able to put it aside for the story, you won't have the difficulty I did. It's a satisfying read once I was able to accept that THA stays true to the fiction. Yes, I bought it in paperback to keep. The book is worth reading. For those who are curious, here's the Olympic's video of Torvill and Dean: https://youtu.be/KNCSij0hUp8 It still takes my breath away.

Loss

Hallee Bridgeman writes Christian romance. I was privileged to meet her at a readers' conference, many years ago. I was already a fan of her Jewel series. She doesn't pretend that the physical reaction in a relationship, including a budding one, is nonexistent. I try to acknowledge the same thing in my own stories.

Did you know that guidelines for many Christian publishers demands that the only reaction to a kiss be the emotional one? Physical reactions are not to be mentioned. Hallee allowed me to believe an audience existed for my type of stories.

She and her husband attended the conference, and their faith definitely wasn't hidden under a bushel. I was inspired and encouraged.

Once I joined FB, I followed her. I finally signed up for her newsletter and her YouTube channel. I've read and watched her participation in various conferences. I've watched her family go on vacation. Her children have grown up before my eyes.

Sadly, she posted yesterday, that her youngest son, Jeb, was out walking and was hit and killed by driver in a truck. He was only 14 years old, a freshman, a remarkable young man. I only recently watched him participate in the national rubrics cube competition. I watched them strip and clean a house. I enjoyed seeing the pictures of a family working together and having fun together.

I have no children of my own. I can't begin to imagine what they're going through. I pray for God's grace and mercy on them. May they feel His loving embrace, encompassing them in their sorrow and Jeb in eternity.
