Sunday Scripture

John 4:12

12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?

13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:

14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

15 The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.

Favorite Book Friday

The Price of Silence by Staci Stallings YA (high school) contemporary romance. Something I learned long ago: Silence serves the abuser not the victim. Break the silence. You never know when speaking a painful truth will set someone else free because they finally realize they are not alone. I always have trouble putting down one of Staci's stories.

Monday Quote

And once the storm is over, you won't remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive. You won't even be sure whether the storm is really over. But one thing is certain. When you come out of the storm, you won't be the same person who walked in. That is what this storm's all about.

Favorite Book Friday

Financial Peace Revisited by Dave Ramsey nonfiction. Practical help for learning to manage one's personal finances. I discovered I was better at some things than I thought and more clearly recognized what I need to work on. I'm a bit startled by how much simply knowing those things has eased my mind. I still have a lot to learn and improve, but I feel more capable. I'd recommend the book to anyone looking to improve.

Tuesday Tidbit

I've taken a short break. Sometimes my body and brain simply decide to shut down. If I fight it, I end up sick, unable to do anything. I'm listening, this time, and allowing myself to simply make it through now.

Monday Quote

"In the midst of hate, I found there was, within me, an invincible love. In the midst of tears, I found there was, within me, an invincible smile. In the midst of chaos, I found there was, within me, an invincible calm. I realized, through it all, that in the midst of winter, I found there was, within me, an invincible summer. And that makes me happy. For it says that no matter how hard the world pushes against me, within me, there's something stronger - something better, pushing right back."

~ Albert Camus

Sunday Scripture

John 3:20-21

20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

Monday Quote

On SM, for years, and finally remembering to share it here:

Courage does not always roar.

Sometimes it's a quiet voice

at the end of the day saying,

I will try again tomorrow.

Easter

Jesus conquered death and hell. He leads the way to salvation and joy. When we become lost, He will hunt us down in the darkest pit, the foulest mire. He is able to comfort us in our deepest despair because He knows what it is to be betrayed, to suffer for every sin. He loves us anyway. He asks only that we choose Him, and He forgives us when we fail. No greater love than His for each of us.

What joy! Jesus defeated sin and death. He provided the Atonement, and He lives, now and forever.

Sunday is Coming....

I wonder what it was like for the disciples, to wonder "What's next?" The Master lies in a tomb. The Son of God. How could it be? The temple veil is in ruins. Unheard of. Unbelievable. Saturday, unknowingly the in between. Mourning the brutal unjust death of a friend, a Man called Master. How could this be? What devastation must they be suffering? Their courage failed them. Their Teacher is dead. They've seen Jesus raise people from the dead, but He didn't save Himself. Perhaps we judge them too harshly. We look back and say, "Oh, ye, of little faith." However, this is new to them. They don't understand. What's next? Sunday is coming.

Good Friday

From Palm Sunday's "Hosanna!" (Praise God) to Good Friday's "Crucify him!"

Jesus endures to the end. His friends abandon Him in fear. He is falsely accused, tried, beaten, whipped, mocked, forced to carry His cross to the Hill of Golgotha, the place of the skull, nailed to the cross, and hung until death. He knew it was coming.

It's a horrible, awful, devastating day.

His followers are crushed.

So why is it called "Good Friday"?

Sunday is coming.

Musical Thursday

Michael McLean's "The Garden"

https://youtu.be/cY6lQujAcgo

And so the brutal end begins. Washing of feet. Passover dinner. Bread and wine. The Garden of Gethsemane. Jesus submitted. "Let this cup pass from me. Not my will but Thine." And what horror and agony to which He submitted. Only to face betrayal.
