Sunday Scripture

Proverbs 1:1-7

1 The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel;

2 To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding;

3 To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity;

4 To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion.

5 A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:

6 To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.

7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Accidental Hero: Hometown Heroes A-Z (Born in Texas Book 1) by Jo Grafford contemporary inspirational western romance. Chokecherries were mentioned, and I remembered delicious chokecherry syrup and jam. One of my aunts made it. She even sent us some once. Enjoyable read and looking forward to reading more stories by Jo Grafford.

Monday Quote

"Fantasy is escapist, and that is the glory. If a soldier is imprisoned by the enemy, don't we consider it his duty to escape? ...If we value the freedom of mind and soul, if we're partisans of liberty, then it's our plain duty to escape, and to take as many people with us as we can!"

~ J. R. R. Tolkien on escapism in "The Lord of the Rings"

3 In the third year of his reign, he made a feast unto all his princes and his servants; the power of Persia and Media, the nobles and princes of the provinces, being before him:

4 When he shewed the riches of his glorious kingdom and the honour of his excellent majesty many days, even an hundred and fourscore days.
