Sunday Scripture

Ruth 3:1-4

Then Naomi her mother in law said unto her, My  daughter, shall I not seek rest for thee, that it may be well with thee? And now is not Boaz of our kindred, with whose maidens thou wast? Behold, he winnoweth barley to night in the threshingfloor. Wash thyself therefore, and annoint thee, and put thy raiment upon thee, and get thee down to the floor: but make not thyself known unto the man, until he shall have done eating and drinking. And it shall be, when he lieth down, that thou shalt mark the place where he shall lie, and thou shalt go in, and uncover his feet, and lay thee down; and he will tell thee what thou shalt do.

Favorite Book Friday

A Familiar Love Song (HOBBY RUN series book 1) by Arlene James inspirational romance. I enjoyed reading about an older couple, late 50s and early 60s. I've been reading Arlene James for a long time and still enjoy her stories.

Michael McLean saw me through a lot of painful years. The first link is to the song I listened to and the second is Michael McLean reflecting on the song:

Tuesday Tidbit

I thought the last edit expanded and, at the same time, tightened the story, adding detail and making better word choices. I thought this would be a quick read through, to catch any glaring errors. No out of place and time words pop out, but I'm finding ways to cut repetitive material I hadn't noticed before. I'm also learning to shuffle sentences to make them more concise. Always learning.

Her First Love (Southern Series 2) by Ginger Solomon Christian romance. Not an easy read, dealing with neglect and domestic abuse. For me, it was a painful, hopeful, and satisfying read.

In my read through, I've cut over 600 words, so far. I need to cut more. Not easy. Bit by bit.

The Choice: Embrace the Possible, a memoir by Dr. Edith Eva Eger, is her story of surviving the Holocaust and learning to thrive. Her story is brutal and inspiring. I was ready to read it. I've a few things I still need to work through. I'm grateful she shared.

I'm still finding little things to change, cut, and hopefully make the story better. The hazard of wanting to create a story into its very best version. In truth, I always planned to someday rewrite these stories. I did the best I knew how at the time and acknowledged I'd be able to do better once I learned more about my craft. I simply didn't expect the rewrite to happen so soon.

Favorite Book Friday

Leaving Oxford (Southern Hearts Series 1) by Janet W. Ferguson Christian romance. Real Christians who continue to make mistakes in their faith journey. Sarah Beth is agoraphobic; something I understand. Jess is a good man but knows he's missing something. I loved the book so much I bought the rest of the series.

Going Up South (Southern Hearts Series 2) by Janet W. Ferguson Christian romance. I love how real her Christians are, struggling with practicing their faith.

Tackling the Fields (Southern Hearts Series 3) by Janet W. Ferguson Christian romance. Another page-turning read. Janet tackles some tough subjects. Another keeper.

Blown Together (Southern Hearts Series 4) by Janet W. Ferguson Christian romance. Last book of this series. Sad to see it end. Laughed and cried and cheered. Satisfying. Janet is definitely on my Must Read List.

Tuesday Tidbit

I had such hopes for July, and then I hit a paragraph that wasn't working. I've spent a week reworking it. I'm tempted to cut it, but it provides necessary information, so I'll keep working. God willing, I'll figure it out and move on to the next chapter and the next and the next...

Friends Day on Sunday

The first Sunday in August is Friends day. Are you ready?

Just Friends

The sixth novella in the series...

Welcome back to Holiday, USA, small town America, where nothing happens, except holidays... and a little romance, if the hero and heroine trust God.

After Mindy Harper's life crashes, she cuts off her friends. What other choice does she have? She doesn't fit in anymore. Holidays commemorating friendship fail to convince her she should celebrate them. A handsome ranch hand won't change her mind.

Cowboy left most of his past behind, with no regrets. The moment he sees Mindy he knows where his future lies. Friendship is the best place to start, but what is he supposed to do when she declares they're acquaintances?

God opens closed doors to those who knock, if it's His will...
