With all the abrupt changes, I needed to be reminded to simplify my life. Thanks to William Emmons for sharing what I needed to hear:

Motivating Daily also gave me an encouraging quote:

Christian stories of broken souls finding God and romance Jesus never promised a life of sweetness and nice; He promises hope. The weakest flame is stronger than the dark.

Code Name: Johnny Walker: The Extraordinary Story of the Iraqi Who Risked Everything to Fight with the U.S. Navy SEALs by Johnny Walker and Jim DeFelice nonfiction. What a fascinating and inspiring book. I appreciated the opportunity to read about the war in Iraq from the point of view of an Iraqi fighting for his love of his country. I have it as an ebook, but I'm buying it in paperback as a keeper. There is some language, typical of most military books I've read.

Rip Van Winkle and the Pumpkin Lantern by Seth Adam Smith fantasy. Mr. Smith gave the Rip Van Winkle story his own twist, interwoven with elements from several fairy tales. An enchanting read and added to my keeper list.

What the Announcement means for me...
My series published through Desert Breeze Publishing, Endless Possibilities, Endless Knights, and The Silver Locket Sisterhood, are being pulled from all markets, a total of 13 books and 1 short story. Desert Breeze will leave them at their own site until June 30th. In July, rights to my books will be returned to me. I will have the opportunity to secure my book covers. The cover artist has agreed to work with me.
My options: Work with a different publisher or self-publish. I'm choosing to self-publish.
I think all the books could use a fresh look. I'm going to review each one. I hope to add more descriptions and depth, using what I've learned in the last six years. I haven't decided on a release schedule yet.
My Holiday, USA series is not affected in any way. It will remain available.
I'm saddened by the decision. Desert Breeze has been a wonderful publishing house to work with, and I have been honored to be a member of their family. I'm grateful for Gail Delaney believing in me, and for Jenifer Ranieri overseeing all my cover art. Carol Fiorillo designed my covers, which I love. Jenifer arranged for sized covers and avatars of my covers to use on social media. I've enjoyed the company of both Gail and Jenifer at conferences. I'll miss working with them but look forward to seeing them on social media. Who knows but we might catch up at another conference. May God bless them on their new adventures.

An Announcement
Posted on social media by Desert Breeze Publishing:
It is with gratitude to our readers, and great pride in our authors and artists, that we at Desert Breeze Publishing announce we will be closing our literary doors as of July 2018.
We opened nearly ten years ago with a dream and a vision. We truly believe that in many ways we succeeded. But it is time to step back and say goodbye.
All DBP books currently available will be purchasable at the DBP website through the end of June. Some online stores will have them until the end of the month, but the take down process will begin immediately in order to close by the end of the month.
Blessing to everyone.

I've ordered the proof for "Holiday, USA Anthology 2016-17." It will take a few weeks to arrive. I can't resist sharing another picture Carol Fiorillo created for me:

Coming Soon...
The amazing cover artist Carol Fiorillo created the new cover for my paperback Holiday, USA Anthology 2016-17. Isn't it lovely on that virtual shelf? I appreciate that she incorporates the covers my sister created for the individual novellas. This book will include novellas 9-12. How soon it will be available depends on the reviewing process, much of which is out of my hands.

Favorite Book Friday
Hinds' Feet on High Places by Hannah Hurnard inspirational fiction. It's worth the read. I didn't read the author's own experience added at the end. I tried to read it, but what I'd gained was being overwritten by the author's perspective. I stopped after the first few pages. I'll keep the book, but I've added a note in the book to stop reading when the author's personal perspective begins.
