Genesis 4:15
And the Lord said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the Lord set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.
Love it isn't quite what I feel but amazing does come to mind to understand that part of God's punishment was to have Cain live with the knowledge of what he had done.
